Have you ever been told that you are "too good to be true? think there are probably quite a few people, particularly women, who have heard that before. It is really sad that the ones who really are better than the rest (of someone's past) have to be put into the "suspect category".
I'm hoping that the next time I hear ""You're too good to be true," it is followed by "but I am confident enough to put down my baggage and find out."
Please share your thoughts and/or experiences!

`I have been told that but I believe men sometimes say that but don't really mean it. I classify it as just a figure of speech just like someone telling you you are a good woman. If these statements were true then why don't most relationships last.

`Too good to be true - It exist in two ways. In one way, it's subjective, because we all find things that are desirable or attractive in our own way. When someone labels an unassuming man as a good guy, it doesn't necessarily means he's a good guy, maybe down to Earth or a person doesn't know him very well. It can also work when labeling at person as bad. We all find things that are ideal in our own concept of romance. A woman could meet the nicest and most charming man in the world to find out that he is a part of a strange non-mainstream religion. The woman in question may find him undesirable at that point, while another woman may see him as the perfect catch.
I'll go further and say how some men often complain about women wanting bad boys or guys, or men who may generally be jerks, yet those women desire to be with good guy. Same for men, who say they want a nice, educated woman, but goes for the looser women around town and worse get them pregnant. So too good to be true could also be something different than one is akin to when it comes to dating. If a man only dates women who are ghetto, loud, hang out in the clubs almost every night, and doesn't dress modestly. He might be kind of weirded out by a woman who is well-spoken, very educated, conservative demeanor, and is most of all, down to earth. To him, it may be a woman who is too good to be true, while to someone else it's simply just another down to earth woman.

`I have heard the same thing from a guy's stand point. It makes you wonder what type of men this young lady has dated. I consider myself a good decent guy but thats it--no one is perfect. Sometimes, I think people may project what they want onto other people which isnt always true. The old saying of rose colored glasses can sometimes ring true. Having one or a few qualities that others really want does not mean you will have all of the qualities that person wants. It may set up for that pedestal thing which never ends well.
